Creation
Xpereans was created out of a need. A need to identify a new way to show someone I cared about them — specifically my partner. Looking online there was a lot of the same things: things we'd already done, things that weren't really original. The idea grew from a scavenger hunt — but how would you craft one where you didn't have to be there? Where you could quietly set up the finale at the end while they walked through the day?
The challenge
I wanted to create a day they would never forget — full of suspense and excitement — without spoiling what was coming next. I wanted to know how far along they were without being there the whole time, so I could time the final step perfectly. Knowing exactly which step they were on made it possible to be in two places at once: with them, and ahead of them.
How people use it
The possibilities are wide. A surprise birthday party, a marriage proposal, a date night, a “just because” afternoon, a travel itinerary handed off to someone else to walk through while you join them later. I've used it many times — even when bored at home, designing a small adventure around the house just to see how creative I could be. Once you start, the imagination usually does the rest.
